The Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar features on Rolling Stone’s 200 Best Singers of All Time

Lataji, feautured at position no 84, is the only Indian singer on the coveted list.

Reacting to the honour, Latabhakt Sanjay Leela Bhansali said that "Lataji is not only among the 200 best, she is THE best singer civilization has ever produced.”

The list also includes the late Pakistani singer and Qawwali Maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

A section of netizens found her inclusion at rank 84 offensive, voicing that the Nightingale of India deserved a ranking higher up in the order.

Netizens also criticized Rolling Stone for not featuring Indian musical legends like Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi.

Widely considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential singers in India, Lataji has been previously awarded the Bharat Ratna and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award
